Travel & Leisure

Last year I travelled over to France for a retreat organized and hosted by the fabulous Kathryn M Ireland (designer) at her home in the south of France.  It so happened that Kate Betts was also attending to write an article for Travel & Leisure magazine about the week long experience.

The retreat was fantastic and yours truly is the 'Penelope' mentioned in the story.

The perfect spot for an afternoon nap.

Studio updates....

After many busy months I am dedicating a bit of time to my much neglected blog.  Ive had a number of successful project come to completion and lots of exciting new projects are on the books taking me into 2011.  I did a couple of photo shoots recently for a few of my projects; one in particular my 'Beach House' project.  We were ramping up to commence with stage 2 of the 'Beach House' renovation, which would have included a new master bedroom suite with spa like bathroom retreat,  but in a surprising turn (clients included!), my clients have decided to move into a bigger house....

New website coming...

Keeping busy in France
Keeping busy in France

It is well over due but we have a new website in development.  The new site will be cleaner, simpler and with all new projects to showcase.  Stay tuned this summer. Ok realistically its now likely to be autumn... maybe even winter! (update: definitely winter in fact look for it in February). Its been crazy busy over here at PJID - a trip to the south of France with Kathryn M Ireland of the Million Dollar Decorators fame, and a bunch of new projects on the go and suddenly the quiet summer I had envisaged has turned into a busy busy time.  And so I haven't had a chance to even think about websites - I am now a Twit (?) though.. after much reluctance, I didn't quite get the point of it. But now I can see the benefits especially when combined with Instagram to relay interesting design related commentary.  I am officially on Twitter @pjidesign.

And I finally get the fuss - my husband will be saying "I told you so" and yes you were right dear!

Its also the same handle on Instagram & Pinterest  (the latter Im still getting the hang of).

The Beach House

The Beach house project - a cape cod in California.  A lovely 1920's home with great bones and plenty of charm. The clients inspired by east coast Cape Cod homes similar to their own wanted  blues & whites to dominate the interior color schemes. R & M envisaged the house feeling like it belonged at the beach.  My aim was to create a beachy laid back feel; East coast meets West coast.  And to do so without using any obvious beach related decor. No anchors or ships in bottles for this house...

Law and Order

...ok I couldnt resist, its a terrible title!  This was a office renovation that I did for one of my residential clients for her office in a corporate law firm.  The client was very clear from the beginning that she didn't want "office" furniture i.e.: cheap looking and generic.  So I aimed to center the room with a singular stand out piece that was anything but corporate...
