CURRENT: A young girls bedroom

My Los Altos Hills clients have two children – a boy and a girl. I was asked to come up with a proposal for the 5 year old girl’s bedroom. My design included a color & paint scheme, custom bedding design and furniture selections. The idea was that the pieces and bedding are to be able to grow with her – so not be overtly age specific or juvenile. The room needed to feel fresh, youthful, bright and stylish.
The young lady of the house had some strong preferences: pink, purple and horses. Oh boy!
My aim was to be sensitive to her preferences and also keep her mum delighted not only by good design but also the longevity and adaptability of the furniture pieces, custom bedding and upholstery.
Here are some snap shots Ive taken during the progress.
The bedding turned out really nicely and I have to thank Lucy my fabricator for her beautiful & flawless work sewing the bedding.

This picture was taken shortly after the wall was finished. You cant tell from this photo but I finished the tree with a iridescent glaze from Benjamin Moore to give the tree added life & a touch of shimmer against the pink field color.
I LOVE the feature wall with the tree!!! I’m thinking of doing something similar for my daughter’s new bedroom. Is the tree just a wall transfer you paint over or is it hand painted?
Thanks
Megan
Thank you for the compliments on my tree. The tree was hand painted and designed by myself. It took a couple of days and about 3 coats of paint – the final coat of paint was a iridescent glaze to give the tree a little more life.
I think the tree is beautiful, I’ve been trying to do something like that myself and this is the one I’ve liked the most! I would really love to see the tree on the white side, if you have a chance to upload a picture I’d be very grateful. Thank you for sharing with us!
